What is parkrun?

Free, for everyone, forever

  1. It's free

We believe that access to regular, outdoor, social, community-focussed physical activity has never been as important as it is now, and we are committed to ensuring our events remain free.

  2. It's for everyone

parkrun is considered by many to be a valuable and essential public health initiative, by supporting people of all ages and backgrounds to take part in a way that is comfortable for them. We are proud of the fact that the average finish time at our events gets slower every year!

  3. It's forever

Every parkrun is a community asset that is delivered by the community for the community — every week now and forever.

Meet the parkrun community

  1. Kerry sat in her car for six weeks before plucking up the courage to open the door and walk over to parkrun. She was worried that she would be expected to run the whole way, but on that first day she met Lynne and Jennifer who reassured her that she could go at her own pace and invited her for coffee. Now, these three women don't just do parkrun together — they do life together.

  2. 80-year-old Michael can be found volunteering at his local parkrun on the Gold Coast most Saturdays. His favourite volunteer role is timekeeping and he has helped out on more than 550 occasions! Through parkrun, Michael has built a large circle of friends who he looks forward to seeing every Saturday morning — not just for parkrun but for the coffee afterwards!

parkrun changed my life

I started parkrun after relearning to walk following brain surgery to remove a tumour. I encourage hesitant walkers to come along to parkrun whenever I get the chance and assure them they are welcome.
